Engine Submission Services

You have probably seen tons of websites that tell you they will
submit your site to 1000 search engines every month for a fee. There
are a few problems with this:
- There are only about a dozen search engines that matter, so
the other 988 so called "search engines" are either
FFA pages or useless sites that get little
or no traffic.
- The most important search engines will find your site on their
own, as long as there are links to them from at least one site
already listed with a search engine.
- Submitting a site on a monthly basis does not help your search
engine rankings.
- Many search engines discourage or ignore submissions from automated
services.
So why do people use these services? In my opinion, it is mostly
because novice webmasters feel insecure and want some sort of guarantee
that their site gets listed.
If you want to get your site listed with search engines, the best
way is to follow these techniques:
- Exchange links with other sites
Basically, all you need to do is find other sites to link to you.
You can
find lots of web directories where you can list your
site for free. Just do searches on Google or Alexa. Another option is to trade links with other sites. If you are
listed on just a few websites that are listed on the search engines,
then all the major search engines will find you
eventually through the links on these sites.
- Use Add URL pages for Google, Yahoo, and MSN
Most Search engines are powered either by Google, Yahoo, or MSN search
technology. So if you submit your site to these search engines, you
should get listed on most search engines after some time.
It may take a few days or even a couple weeks, but these techniques are all you really
need to do to get listed on the major search engines.
Remember to also consider Pay
per click advertising if you want to get traffic quickly.
