Internet marketers have always relied heavily on email marketing solutions to run marketing campaigns. However, the nature of email marketing has changed quite a bit in recent years, with SPAM becoming a major issue and new laws being passed as a result. Today, in order to engage in email marketing, there are certain rules marketers must follow in order to be effective and ensure they are complying with the law.

This used to be the traditional way in which people sent out bulk mail, but I do not recommend this method. While I am sure there are good programs out there, I have not found very many. A lot of programs slow down your computer while the program is sending out the mail. Depending on what ISP you use, your outgoing mails might get blocked if you send out too many.
- Use a web-based email marketing solution

In addition, these web services offer powerful capabilities like timed autoresponders and analysis solutions to gauge how likely it is for your message to be flagged as SPAM. Web-based solutions also automatically insert opt-out codes into your messages so that you will be always be in compliance with the CAN-SPAM act. Almost every good marketer I know of these days uses a web-based program like GetResponse, and for good reason. They are powerful programs that make your email marketing campaigns easy to manage.
