John Alexander Review
John Alexander has marketed a number of real estate courses through infomercials. His latest product,"Foreclosure Fortunes in 14 days" is supposed to teach you how to take advantage of the wave of foreclosures and make a lot of money in as little as 14 days. The product is well-timed, and on its face, the prospect of cashing in on the real estate crisis sounds enticing.
The course comes with a DVD, several booklets, and a 14-day action plan. It is currently selling for $39.95, but be aware that you will also be automatically signed up to John Alexander's "Foreclosure Vault" monthly service, which means you will continue to be billed $39.95 until you cancel.
Some of the benefits of the program touted in the infomercial are:
- No credit or license necessary
- No prior experience necessary
- Income potential is huge (lots of examples are given of students making tens of thousands of dollars using the system)
So is it worth it?
I gave up on purchasing infomercial products a long time ago. I found out that with most of them, you only get very basic information (which you could easily get elsewhere), followed by endless sales calls from telemarketers trying to sell you private coaching for thousands of dollars.
If you are thinking of purchasing John Alexander's Foreclosure Fortunes, here is something you might be interested in knowing:
In June 2009, the FTC charged John Alexander, along with other infomercial merchants, with deceptive practices.
The FTC press release stated that Alexander and the other infomercial marketers "...bilk vulnerable consumers through a variety of schemes, such as promising non-existent jobs; promoting over hyped get-rich-quick plans, bogus government grants, and phony debt-reduction services; or putting unauthorized charges on consumers’ credit or debit cards."
You can read the full press release here.
Now an FTC charge does not necessarily mean John Alexander is a scam artist or that his product is not good. However, such charges are usually brought about after numerous complaints from consumers. So at the very least, I can say that there are many unhappy campers who bought John Alexander's program, and that should make you wary of purchasing this product,
